Oscar Piastri made up for his home disappointment the previous week, scoring a strong victory in China as title-leading McLaren team-mate Lando Norris kept him honest but struggled in the latter stages with a worryingly long brake pedal. With George Russell third again for Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari were left disappointed by a race in which the top five got home running one-stop strategies against all expectations... but then it all changed as the two Ferrari and Pierre Gasly’s Alpine were excluded after technical infringements.
