Had Lando Norris followed teammate Oscar Piastri home for McLaren’s fifth consecutive 1–2 finish of 2025, the gap between the two in the championship would have been trimmed to just 16 points. Instead, a cruel engine failure with seven laps remaining turned a sure podium into heartbreak — and the deficit has now more than doubled.
Despite the setback, Norris was defiant in defeat. The Briton made it clear that there will be no surrender in his title fight with Piastri, vowing to come back stronger in the remaining rounds.
