As nightmares go, from Lando Norris’ viewpoint the Qatar GP couldn’t have been worse. A shell-shocked McLaren team, after a controversial pit stop call under an early Safety Car effectively handed the race to Nemesis Max Verstappen, who sailed away to win from polesitter Oscar Piastri. Running third from the start, Lando was lucky to salvage P4 in the closing stages, setting up a three-way fight in Abu Dhabi after the race in which many had expected the Englishman to clinch his first title.
