When Dorilton Capital took over Williams F1 in 2020, the investment company had a lot to learn. What emerged over time was that Williams was a long way behind its rivals in many different respects. The team had not had the money to keep up with the pace of F1 development. One of the primary failings was the team’s industrial capacity, which basically meant that the team was unable to keep up the flow of development work that is required to be competitive in the modern era of F1. You can have the most brilliant designers in the world, but if you cannot build the parts required, you are not going to succeed.
